Hmmmm....
I would choose the similarly-priced Sony VX-2000, or the
less expensive TRV-900 over the GL-1 (XM-1) anyday - have
you considered these? As for the one-chip cameras, with the
worst, the picture is very noticeably less sharp, with
poor highlight and shadow rendering, many negative picture
artifacts (like oversharpening, stair-stepping, graininess);
with the best (Sony PC100/110/TRV-20/TRV-30), the image
sharpness and color is close to 3-chip, but with more
negative artifacts in the picture, poorer highlight
and shadow rendering, and less ability to shoot in low
light - but the small size of these may offset these
shortcomings for some... BTW, many Mini-DV camcorders
are (critically...) reviewed at

which is back up and running today.
