Trip to the South Western US

CANYON de CHELLY NATIONAL MONUMENT

Farming and ranching still go on within the canyon - and there are also some cliff dwellings remaining. There is easy access to the rim from which there are good views of a very pretty canyon. On David's first attempt to visit the canyon in the early 1960s, he got lost in the fog trying to follow confusing rutted tracks - but by the late 60s, a paved road made finding the canyon far easier.
