Trip to the South Western US

May - June  2005

HOOVER DAM - LAKE MEAD

Construction prevented finding ideal viewpoints, and it was HOT the day we were there. The dam is far more impressive in videos about it than it was in reality (there is little to indicate its size when viewing it from above). We both would, in hindsight, rather have not bothered - but there was only one way to find that out. If there is a tour going into the dam and power station, that may make the trip worthwhile (but once you have seen the power stations around Niagara Falls, well…).
